The gondola and upper chairs create long laps, while an All Mountain Pass opens the connection toward Niseko Village. Gate access is never a promise of safe conditions; follow patrol closures and carry the equipment appropriate to the terrain.

TIP: Use Annupuri for the clearest-weather half of the day. The open upper mountain is rewarding, but navigation and cross-resort links lose much of their appeal when cloud settles in.

This is not a beginner ski lesson: expect black-run confidence, real powder and tree experience, good fitness, and mandatory avalanche equipment. Lift passes, touring equipment, and safety-gear inclusion vary by operator.

TIP: Decide whether you want lift-assisted powder or a true human-powered touring day before booking. They demand different fitness and gear, and the most suitable guide product can change dramatically.

The spring SnowCat experience is a slower two-hour group charter with summit photos, a snowshoe walk, hot drinks, and pastries. Choose the Grand Hirafu–Hanazono pass when those are your only two sectors, or the Niseko All Mountain Pass when crossing farther around Annupuri. Connections, return lifts, and night operations change with weather and the daily lift board.

TIP: Cross to Hanazono early enough to preserve a lift or shuttle fallback. Waiting for the final connection can turn an easy linked day into a long base-to-base transfer.

Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu

Niseko Village Ski Resort is the steepest-feeling hotel-based sector of Niseko United, with sustained fall-line runs through birch forest and true ski-in, ski-out convenience. Its gondola-served vertical rewards stronger skiers, while beginner areas and village services keep mixed groups together.

The upper connection toward Annupuri can turn this into a two-sector day, but terrain and return options depend on operating lifts and visibility. An All Mountain Pass is required when skiing beyond the Village sector.

TIP: Check the upper link and the last practical return before committing to Annupuri. In poor visibility, the shuttle is often the calmer backup than chasing a closing connection.

Rusutsu Resort Ski Area is Hokkaido’s standout three-mountain playground, with fast lifts, rolling fall-line terrain, and some of the island’s most entertaining lift-served tree skiing.
