Orizuru Tower and Wall
“Participating in the Orizuru Wall isn’t just about the view — take a moment inside the interactive ORIZURU SQUARE to learn about the cultural and historical significance of the paper crane as a symbol of peace, then place your own crane in the wall to become part of this ongoing global message.”
I’d include Orizuru Tower and Wall for a stop next to the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park.
More about this place
The Orizuru Wall is a striking feature of Hiroshima Orizuru Tower, a landmark attraction located next to the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park.
Opened in 2016, the Orizuru Tower offers panoramic views of the city, Peace Memorial Park, and the A-bomb Dome from its rooftop observation deck, and incorporates interactive spaces themed around origami paper cranes, a long-standing symbol of peace in Japan.
You are invited to fold your own paper crane (orizuru) using special origami paper and drop it into the 50-meter-high glass Orizuru Wall, where thousands of colorful cranes gather into a soaring collective display of hope and wishes for peace from people around the world. The wall continues to grow as more cranes are added, creating a powerful visual testament to shared aspirations for a peaceful future.
