Hoshino Resorts Tomamu Ski Area

The 2027 village is scheduled for January 28 through March 14, with shorter hours in March and weather-dependent access. This is a remote extension from Furano/Biei, not a casual nearby stop, so confirm roads and the limited bus timetable.

TIP: Choose one reservable experience before traveling; simply arriving without a plan can leave you admiring the structures while the most memorable activities are full.

Lake Shikaribetsu Ice Village

Mina-Mina Indoor Wave Pool is Tomamu's tropical-feeling reset inside a vast glass hall, giving families and non-skiers a warm, weatherproof break from snow, rain, or tightly scheduled sightseeing.

Periodic waves animate the main pool, while the surrounding resort facilities make it easy to turn a swim into a half-day recovery block.

Mina-Mina Indoor Wave Pool

Shirogane Blue Pond

Tokachi Sahoro Resort Ski Area is a quiet inland mountain with broad Tokachi views, crisp snow, and enough ungroomed terrain to reward stronger skiers without the scale or crowds of Niseko. A beginner park and compact resort base make the same mountain approachable for newer skiers.

Tokachi Sahoro Resort Ski Area

Tokachidake Observatory Mountain Viewpoint is a high volcanic overlook where the Tokachi range rises abruptly above Furano and Biei. Short paths across raw lava terrain deliver an alpine feeling without committing to a summit hike, especially when autumn color reaches the lower slopes.

The access road and facilities are seasonal, and cloud can erase the entire mountain wall. Pair the stop with Blue Pond or an onsen, but keep the route flexible enough to move it to the clearest day.

TIP: Check a live mountain camera before driving up; conditions at the viewpoint can be completely different from Biei below.

Tokachidake Observatory Viewpoint

Tomamu Unkai Terrace is a dawn gondola ride to a mountaintop observation complex designed around Hokkaido's elusive sea of clouds. When conditions align, cloud fills the valleys beneath decks, bridges, and sculptural viewpoints; when it does not, the Hidaka Mountains and early light still create a memorable high-country morning.

Train to Furano via Takikawa uses the regional JR network. Take a Sapporo–Takikawa main-line train, then change to the local Nemuro Main Line service for Furano. Check both legs together; the local train is much less frequent than departures from Sapporo.

Reserve the appropriate seat on the limited-express leg if required by that service. The local train has simpler seating and limited luggage space. Allow time for the Furano hotel transfer after reaching the station.
