Furano, Biei & wider central Hokkaido: places and practical planning

Split Furano’s town and fields, Biei’s pond-and-waterfall area, and Tomamu’s resort experiences. Lake Shikaribetsu and Sahoro are farther east; the source group is not one walkable base.

  1. 01 · Tomamu, Hokkaido

The chapel is at Tomamu, separate from Furano’s fields. Check public visiting times and event restrictions before building a day around an interior visit.

  2. 02 · Nakafurano, Hokkaido

Choose the seasonal flower areas that are open on your date; a summer field photograph does not imply year-round lavender.

  3. 03 · Furano, Hokkaido

Separate a short food stop from a booked hands-on session. Confirm whether the workshop you want runs that day.

Choose the Furano or Kitanomine approach that fits your accommodation and current operations; keep a full mountain day available.

  5. 05 · Kamifurano, Hokkaido

Choose a hill walk and the current flower display. Add the approach separately from the time spent at the viewpoint.

  6. 06 · Tomamu, Hokkaido

Tomamu is its own resort base. Do not assume a Furano hotel provides a quick walk or included transfer to these slopes.

This temporary winter attraction is farther east than Furano and Biei. Confirm the current operating period, access and weather restrictions.

  8. 08 · Tomamu, Hokkaido

Check day-use eligibility, opening and the specific ticket. A resort stay or a nearby activity does not automatically include pool admission.

  9. 09 · Furano, Hokkaido

Keep the craft-village visit with the Furano resort side of the day. Individual workshops and shops may have their own hours.

  10. 10 · Shirogane, Biei

This is a bridge viewpoint, distinct from the Blue Pond walk. Check winter footing and access before treating the two as an effortless circuit.

  11. 11 · Biei, Hokkaido

Allow for the actual approach and current path conditions. Water appearance, reflections and winter lighting vary; the source image is illustrative.

  12. 12 · Sahoro, Hokkaido

Sahoro is a separate ski area east of Furano. Choose a dedicated transfer and resort day rather than treating the source group as one lift network.

  13. 13 · Biei / Tokachi mountain approach

A road-access viewpoint is separate from a summit or alpine hike. Check the road and volcanic or mountain alerts for the outing you intend.

  14. 14 · Tomamu, Hokkaido

Choose the dawn gondola outing only with current access and reservation information. A sea of clouds is a weather-dependent possibility.

Before you set off

Leave room for the journey

Connect the right outings

Choose flowers and rural viewpoints for a summer circuit, or a specific ski resort for winter. Unkai cloud views and the temporary ice village are condition-dependent experiences.

Plan the approach and return

Choose the town or resort first, then check each day’s approach and return. A summer rural circuit and a winter ski transfer need different arrangements; train access does not complete every final leg. [5]

Choose an overnight base

Furano town and Kitanomine serve different city and ski priorities. RISONARE Tomamu is at Tomamu, separate from Furano and Biei. Avoid choosing it as a walking base for the flower fields.

Questions before you go

How should I fit this into my trip?

Choose your base and the main outing before adding optional stops. Read the linked full route for its actual day order and selected overnights.

Are the map and visit times a transport schedule?

Map pins show locations. Curated visit allowances exclude approach journeys, connections, queues and the return. Check the exact service or operator for your travel date.
