I’d put The Narrows (Top Down) on the list for canyon scenery.

The Grand Circle hosts some of the most bizarre landscapes on Earth, all just a few hours apart. From tiny beautiful canyons like Antelope to the Grand Canyon itself, with tons of outworldly places in between — this road trip will blow your mind.

The top-down Narrows offers a more immersive and remote version of the canyon experience, starting far upstream and ending at the Temple of Sinawava. Because access is limited by permits, it tends to feel more secluded than the bottom-up route.

You’ll experience the same towering canyon walls and river hiking, but over a much longer distance, often requiring a full day or an overnight trip.

As with the bottom-up version, proper footwear and preparation are essential due to water, slippery rocks, and changing conditions.

TIP: An advance, overnight, or day-before permit required (check the expert links section). This is a long, committing hike — often done over 2 days. You’ll still exit via the shuttle at the end, so plan timing and logistics carefully.
