Where to stay in Austin

Choose the neighborhood for the days you want on foot. Compare downtown, South Congress and East Austin first, then look farther out when flights, a retreat or camping shape the trip.

Choose the days you want on foot

Seven settings. Different tradeoffs.

Start with the city core for a short break. A farther-out stay earns its place when it matches a specific part of your trip.

02

South Congress

Shops, patios and live music on foot once you arrive.

Hotel San José and Hotel Saint Cecilia suit a South Congress focus. Crossing the river adds a separate walk, bus or rideshare; Barton Springs is another outing rather than part of the same short stroll.

03

East Austin

Restaurants, bars and a neighborhood-led stay east of I-35.

ARRIVE and East Austin Hotel sit at different points along East Sixth. Nixta is farther north, so give it its own connection. Check your room category: East Austin Hotel also sells cabin rooms with shared bathrooms.[14]

04

South bank & Zilker side

Lake time and a South Austin base with downtown across the water.

Hyatt Regency is near the Congress Avenue bridge; Carpenter is farther west, on the Zilker side. They are distinct bases. Check the route to your chosen pool entrance or music venue rather than assuming every South Austin stop is next door.

05

North of the city core

A retreat at the estate, or shopping and evenings at The Domain.

Commodore Perry Estate is in Hancock, near Hyde Park; Lone Star Court is much farther north at The Domain. Neither is a downtown walking base. Compare the extra city and circuit connections before choosing the room.

06

Airport side

An early flight or a stay organized around driving.

Hilton Austin Airport and Aloft Austin Airport are airport-area choices, not walkable city bases. Being southeast of downtown does not establish a direct, fast COTA transfer. Verify hotel shuttle hours, eligibility and the actual race-day route.

07

Camping outside the center

A separately planned outdoor stay with a vehicle and equipment.

McKinney Falls is southeast of the center; Emma Long is west by Lake Austin. Reserve an actual campsite and check facilities, park access and current notices. Neither is a substitute for a downtown hotel on foot.

A race weekend changes the decision

Match your base to the pickup.

Choose the hotel and COTA transfer together. A circuit day is already a full day out.

Downtown + official shuttle

Waterloo Park appears on COTA’s shuttle page, alongside the northeast Expo Center option. Fairmont is the route’s selected hotel, but it is not at Waterloo Park. Plan the hotel-to-pickup connection and the return.[7]

Driving + reserved parking

Confirm a parking pass for your event and lot before relying on driving. Follow the lot-specific approach; allow for traffic, walking and the exit queue. A map’s ordinary driving time is not a race-day promise.[8]

Airport + an early flight

Airport-area hotels can help with flights. They do not guarantee a simple race transfer, a hotel shuttle to COTA or a late-night airport shuttle. Confirm the actual service with the hotel before booking.

Read the complete F1 transport plan

Keep the room and the total clear.

Check the address, room category, private or shared bathroom, occupancy, taxes, fees, parking and cancellation terms for the dates you book. This is a location guide. It does not quote live nightly rates or promise availability.

Start with your kind of trip

City rhythm or race-week energy?

Choose the days you want to have, then fit the hotel and transport around them.

Start with four city days; shorter and longer options keep the same city base. The F1 outline is a trip shape, not a confirmed session timetable. Check the event edition before booking.

A good place to start

Before you go.

Where should I stay for a first visit to Austin?

Choose downtown for a broad city base, South Congress for that neighborhood’s shops and music, or East Austin for its restaurants and bars. Start with the days you want to spend on foot, then check the hotel’s exact address and room type.

Which Austin base works best for F1?

Match your hotel to the confirmed transport pickup or reserved parking plan. Downtown can suit a city stay plus official shuttle, but Fairmont is not at Waterloo Park. Airport-area hotels may suit flights and driving; they do not guarantee a short race-day journey.

Are these hotels available for my dates?

This guide compares curated locations, not live room offers. Open an individual stay guide to check providers, dates, occupancy, room category, final totals and cancellation terms. Hotel parking and race transport may be separate costs.

Are all 17 stays selected in the itineraries?

No. City Break selects Hotel San José; F1 Austin Escape selects Fairmont Austin. The other hotels and campsites are alternatives in Austin’s wider collection. The route stay collections retain the selected-trip lists.
