The Big Ice Adventure begins with a scenic boat ride across Lake Argentino to the edge of the glacier. One of the main highlights of staying at Refugio Grey is its proximity to the majestic Grey Glacier. You can embark on guided glacier hikes or boat tours to witness the mesmerizing blue ice formations up close. The surrounding area also offers opportunities for hiking, bird watching, and wildlife spotting, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts.

Our favorite activity in the area besides the W-trek itself is kayaking next to the Gery Glacier and its icebergs (check the list of region highlights for more details). It is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience, just steps away from the refugio.

Keep in mind that Paine Grande can only be accessed by a ferry accross Lake Pehoe, or hiking from Grey or other park areas. Also make sure to book at least a couple months in advance, ideally before the season starts in October.
