Paris gardens: a pause in the right part of town

Choose the garden that fits the rest of your day. The Tuileries sits beside the Louvre, Palais-Royal offers a smaller central pause, and Luxembourg belongs with the Latin Quarter. Versailles is a separate estate outside Paris.

Make the Paris day fit you

After the Louvre: Tuileries

Leave time to sit or cross the garden towards Concorde. Its scale and central setting make it a good alternative to adding another museum in the same afternoon. Check the Louvre’s seasonal gate hours. [1]

With the Latin Quarter: Luxembourg

Pair the garden with the Panthéon and nearby streets, with space for a pause after walking uphill from the river. The Senate publishes seasonal hours; it is not an all-night public square. [11]

A shorter central stop: Palais-Royal

Choose this near the Louvre when you want a more compact garden and arcades. It is a different place from the Tuileries, not another name for the same garden. [12]

For an estate day: Versailles

Travel to Versailles separately. The palace, gardens, Trianon and park have different access conditions, and gardens can be charged on programme days. Do not present it as a quick walk from a central Paris hotel. [5]

Questions before you go

Which Paris garden fits a Louvre day?

The Tuileries adjoins the Louvre and works as a flexible outdoor break. Palais-Royal is another compact nearby choice, with separate gate hours.

Can I add Versailles gardens to a central walking day?

Versailles is outside Paris and requires its own connection. Give the estate a separate day if you want the palace, gardens and time to explore. [5]
