Fall is beautiful and majestic in Colorado. Most hikes and roads are still open, but crowds are already gone. Exact timing for the foliage season depends on elevation and weather patterns, but it typically peaks late September to early October.

Winters are beautiful in the Dolomites with plenty of world-class ski resorts, but you won't be able to visit most of the attractions due to snow.
