Mount Eden is a dormant volcano and one of Auckland's most iconic natural landmarks. It offers stunning panoramic views of Auckland and the surrounding areas from its 640-foot summit.

Chances are you are quite jet-lagged from your long flight, and this spot is just perfect to relax and take in the views on your first day in New Zealand. Just walk to the top of the mountain and explore the crater and surrounding parkland. The hike to the summit takes around 20-30 minutes and is relatively easy. Along the way, you will enjoy views of the city skyline, the Waitemata Harbour, and Rangitoto Island.

At the top, there is a large grassy area perfect for a picnic or simply taking in the breathtaking views. The area is also rich in history and is considered a sacred site by the local Maori people.
